Crowds of people followed Jesus. People followed Jesus for many different reasons. He was a great man --a rabbi, teacher. He performed miracles. He taught a way of life unlike any other. But to some, he was more. To some, he gave a specific call --follow me, be my disciple. In Jesus’ day, it was better known as a call to apprentice. The goal of an apprentice was to put down his own way of life to be with, learn to from and eventually do what the teacher did. Jesus’ call is still the same today: To follow him. To be with him. To be like him. And, to do what he did. Jesus calls us to follow the leader.
