Week 6. Friday: More Than You Think
PRAY: Ask God to speak to you from His Word.
READ: Ephesians 3:20-21
20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
UNDERSTAND: get a deeper understanding of the key words
Able (Greek: dynamai): perfectly able, beyond able
Immeasurably More (Greek: hyperekperissou hyper): far more abundantly beyond
Paul uses multiple words here to force the weight of his point.
A literal translation would be, “far more abundantly beyond all”
Paul is stressing to excess that God can do far more than we can imagine.
Ask (Greek: aiteō): beg, call for, crave, desire
God can do more than we can ask.
God can also do more than we desire.
Imagine (Greek: noeō): perceive, understand, ponder, consider
God can do more than we can perceive or understand.
The most imaginative and creative mind in the world is still not able to understand or ponder what God is able to do.
At Work (Greek: energeō): continual effectual work
God’s work in us is continual and constant.
God’s work in us is always effective, for God cannot fail.

APPLY: What is this passage calling me to do?
Sometimes we pray big prayers. But if we’re honest, most of the time we only pray for small things. We often forget that we’re praying to a God that holds the universe in place. God has infinite ability to do more than we can imagine. The more we believe that, the more our prayers and our attitude toward life will begin to change.
