Week 2. Friday: Birth Through the Word
PRAY: Ask God to speak to you from His Word.
READ: James 1:18
18 He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.
UNDERSTAND: get a deeper understanding of the key words
Chose. Of His own will. It was God’s choice to save us. We had not part in it. Without God offering us a way, through Jesus, we would be lost forever.
Birth through the word. Through Jesus God gave us a second birth. A birth into his kingdom, into His family.
Firstfruits. To set apart the first and best portion for God. To be separated from other creations. As believers we are set apart for God’s glory.
APPLY: What is this passage calling me to do?
Read the story of Nicodemus in John 3:1-21. Why do you think Nicodemus was so confused by Jesus statements about being born again.
Focus in on John 3:16-20. How do these verses explain the reason and purpose for a second birth?
Would you say that you have been born again? How do you know? How is your life different because God chose to give you life?
PRAY: Pray for God to reveal to you if you are truly saved? If you are born again thank God for choosing to offer that to you. If you have questions or doubts pray for God to take over your life. Pray for him to be the king of all you do. You will be saved. The bible says…
“...that if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
