Real Mature (W1D2) Finish What He Starts

Week 1. Tuesday: God Finishes What He Starts

PRAY: Ask God to speak to you from His Word.

READ: Philippians 1:3-6

3 I thank my God every time I remember you. 4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

UNDERSTAND: get a deeper understanding of the key words

  1. Begin by underlining nouns with a single line, double underline verbs, and circle descriptive words.

  2. Make a list of the key words/phrases and think about what they mean.

Snapshot: In this passage Paul is thankful God for the Philippians’ partnership in the gospel. Partnership (Greek: koinōnia) refers to participating together in the mission of making disciples. This word is also translated “fellowship” in other passages. As a church, we should all partner together to spread the gospel in our community. This “partnership” is a result of God’s work in us. When God begins a good work in us, He will complete it until we meet Him in eternity. Therefore, we should always see some kind of growth and good works in our lives.

APPLY: What is this passage calling me to do?

In what ways are you participating in your church?

How do you see God working in and through you?

PRAY: Ask God to help you see more opportunities to serve Him and others.
