Real Mature (W2D1) Not About You

Week 2. Monday: It’s Not Always About You

PRAY: Ask God to speak to you from His Word.

READ: Philippians 1:12-14

12 Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel. 13 As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ. 14 And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.

UNDERSTAND: get a deeper understanding of the key words

  1. Begin by underlining nouns with a single line, double underline verbs, and circle descriptive words.

  2. Make a list of the key words/phrases and think about what they mean.

Snapshot: In this passage Paul assures the Philippians that, even though he is in prison, the gospel is still advancing. Paul describes how God is using his imprisonment to reach people for Christ. Even the palace guard has realized that Paul is in prison because of the gospel. And the result of Paul’s boldness, believers were being strengthened in their faith and boldly spreading the gospel.

Takeaway: Your circumstances are not always about you.

APPLY: What is this passage calling me to do?

Paul was known for being committed to the gospel. What are you known for?

What are dealing with currently? How could God use your situation for the sake of others around you?

PRAY: Ask God to help you see your circumstances as part of His plan.
