Real Mature (W2D3) What Really Matters
Week 2. Wednesday: What Really Matters
PRAY: Ask God to speak to you from His Word.
READ: Philippians 1:18-20
18 But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice. Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, 19 for I know that through your prayers and God’s provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance. 20 I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.
UNDERSTAND: get a deeper understanding of the key words
Begin by underlining nouns with a single line, double underline verbs, and circle descriptive words.
Make a list of the key words/phrases and think about what they mean.
Snapshot: In this passage Paul reveals what is most important. Even though there were a group of people working against Paul personally, they were still spreading the gospel. Paul was mature enough to know that as long as Christ is preached it didn’t matter what people thought of him. Paul knew what mattered most.
Takeaway: Knowing Jesus is far more important than our personal preferences.
APPLY: What is this passage calling me to do?
What is the most important thing in your life? What do you invest the most time, energy, and resources on?
How do your priorities determine what life is all about?
PRAY: Ask God to help you prioritize your life in a way that honors Him.
