#getoveryourselfie (W3D5) Be Glad and Rejoice
Week 3. Friday: Be Glad and Rejoice
PRAY: Ask God to speak to you from His Word.
READ: Philippians 2:17-18
17 But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. 18 So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.
UNDERSTAND: get a deeper understanding of the key words
Begin by underlining nouns with a single line, double underline verbs, and circle descriptive words.
Make a list of the key words/phrases and think about what they mean.
Snapshot: In this passage Paul gives us the solution to grumbling and arguing. He gives us a completely opposite attitude to have that will help us combat a negative mindset. Just like generosity is the solution to greed, thankfulness and rejoicing is the solution to complaining. Only when we focus on being thankful for what God has given us can we stop complaining. Paul was in prison facing death and he says, “I am glad and rejoice with all of you.” What do we have to complain about?
Takeaway: Gratitude is the cure for grumbling.
APPLY: What is this passage calling me to do?
What in your life makes you genuinely happy? Why?
Make a list of all the blessings God has graciously given you.
How could focusing on those things help you when you’re tempted to complain?
PRAY: Ask God to help you be more thankful for what He has given you.
