#getoveryourselfie (W6D3) Stressed and Anxious

Week 6. Wednesday: Stressed and Anxious

PRAY: Ask God to speak to you from His Word.

READ: Philippians 4:6-7

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

UNDERSTAND: get a deeper understanding of the key words

  1. Begin by underlining nouns with a single line, double underline verbs, and circle descriptive words.

  2. Make a list of the key words/phrases and think about what they mean.

Snapshot: In this passage Paul gives us a solution to stress and anxiety. It seems impossible not to be anxious about anything, but according to Paul there is a way. In every situation we must pray and be thankful. An attitude of thankfulness goes a long way in dealing with anxiety. When we focus on what we are thankful for we find the peace of God that is not understood by the world around us. This peace will then guard our hearts and minds from being stressed and anxious.

Takeaway: Replace your anxiety with prayer and thanksgiving.

APPLY: What is this passage calling me to do?

What are you stressed or anxious about? Why?

Read Matthew 6:25-34. What does Jesus teach us about worrying?

PRAY: Ask God to help you trust in Him when you are stressed and anxious.
