Light of the World (W1D5) Overcome


"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." John 1:5

o·ver·come . /ˌōvərˈkəm/ . verb

1. succeed in dealing with (a problem or difficulty).

Synonyms: get the better of, prevail over, control, get/bring under control, master, conquer, defeat, beat.

2. defeat (an opponent); prevail.

Synonyms: defeat, beat, conquer, trounce, thrash, rout, vanquish, overwhelm, overpower, get the better of, triumph over, prevail over, win over/against, outdo, outclass, worst, crush;

The bible has a lot to say about light and darkness. One thing that stays consist is that light always overcomes darkness. No matter how dark it gets the least amount of light will always dispel some amount of darkness.

Use your bible concordance (back of your bible) or a Google search to find other places where the bible describes our ability, through Jesus and God, to block out the darkness. Read at least 5 more. Make a list of what you learn about being overcomers from these verses.
