Week 1. Friday: Without God
PRAY: Ask God to speak to you from His Word.
READ: Ecclesiastes 2:24-25
24 A person can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in their own toil. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, 25 for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment?
UNDERSTAND: get a deeper understanding of the key words
Begin by underlining nouns with a single line, double underline verbs, and circle descriptive words.
Make a list of the key words/phrases and think about what they mean.
Snapshot: In this passage Solomon tells us that we should be enjoying our lives. But true satisfaction and joy only comes from the hand of God. We can chase everything the world has to offer but it will only leave us stressed and empty. When we discover what matters most and prioritize those things we will find joy and contentment.
Takeaway: It’s NORMAL to chase after things that don’t matter.
It’s BETTER to chase after what matters most.
