Ephesians (W12D5) Fearless
Week 12. Friday: Fearless
PRAY: Ask God to speak to you from His Word.
READ: Ephesians 6:19-24
19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
21 Tychicus, the dear brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you everything, so that you also may know how I am and what I am doing. 22 I am sending him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are, and that he may encourage you.
23 Peace to the brothers and sisters, and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love.
UNDERSTAND: get a deeper understanding of the key words
Fearlessly Make Known (Greek: gnōrizō en parrēsia): to speak boldly and clearly
Paul is praying for the freedom to speak boldly but also clearly.
“Fearlessly” refers to boldness and “make known” refers to being clear.
Ambassador (Greek: presbeuō): an authorized messenger or representative
The original followers of Jesus considered themselves ambassadors.
However, we are also ambassadors for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17-21).
Tychicus (Greek: Tychikos): a companion of Paul whose name means “fateful”
Tychicus was a friend and ministry companion of Paul. He went with Paul in Acts 20:4-6 to take a relief offering to Jerusalem, was with Paul during his first Roman imprisonment, and was often sent on missions by Paul (see 2 Timothy 4:12; Titus 3:12). Also see Colossians 4:7-9.
Faithful Servant (Greek: pistos diakonos): trustworthy minister
Encourage (Greek: parakaleō): to comfort, strengthen, instruct or teach
Undying Love (Greek: aphtharsia): incorruptible, pure, sincere love

PRAY: Ask God to help you fearlessly take the Gospel to those around you.
