Week 9. Wednesday: The Lord’s Will

15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”

UNDERSTAND: get a deeper understanding of the key words

  1. Begin by underlining nouns with a single line, double underline verbs, and circle descriptive words.

  2. Make a list of the keys words/phrases and think about what they mean.

SNAPSHOT: In this verse, James is teaching that we think, plan, and do everything with God’s will in mind. Instead of assuming that our plans are best and correct, we should know that only God’s plan prevail. God can step into our lives and change every detail that He wishes. Faith requires us to trust God’s plan over our own.

APPLY: What is this passage calling me to do?

How does the phrase, “If it’s the Lord’s will” change how you think about making plans?

Read Proverbs 16:3-9. If God were establishing your plans, how would it be different from your current plans?

PRAY: Ask God to show you the next step in His plan for your life.
