#GetOverYourSelfie (W1D1) What If...
Week 1. Monday: What If...
PRAY: Ask God to speak to you from His Word.
READ: Philippians 2:1
1 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion,
UNDERSTAND: get a deeper understanding of the key words
Begin by underlining nouns with a single line, double underline verbs, and circle descriptive words.
Make a list of the key words/phrases and think about what they mean.
Snapshot: In this passage Paul transitions from how to trust God in difficult situations to how we should act as part of a family of believers. He begins with a motive, a reason, for us to consider the remainder of this passage. The word “IF” does not indicate that Paul questions or doubts the things listed but rather makes the point that Jesus is the source of all these things in life. And, since He is the sources, we should live in a way that is worthy of these things. Takeaway: As believers we should consider the encouragement, comfort, fellowship, affection (love), and sympathy (caring, compassion) that comes from knowing Christ. If a life in Christ provides these things it should impact how we act.
