#getoveryourselfie (W2D3) Savior and Lord

Week 2. Wednesday: Savior and Lord

PRAY: Ask God to speak to you from His Word.

READ: Philippians 2:9-11

9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

UNDERSTAND: get a deeper understanding of the key words

  1. Begin by underlining nouns with a single line, double underline verbs, and circle descriptive words.

  2. Make a list of the key words/phrases and think about what they mean.

Snapshot: In this passage Paul tells us that God exalted Jesus to the highest place and gave Him the name above every name. Although our world today is filled with people who do not acknowledge Jesus as Lord, in the end everyone will. However, in the end no one will get to choose whether or not they acknowledge Jesus as Lord. This shows us the importance of using the time we have in this life to give our lives to Christ as our Lord and Savior.

Takeaway: Jesus cannot be your Savior if He is not also your Lord.

APPLY: What is this passage calling me to do?

According to this passage, who gets the glory? Why is that important?

How did Jesus use His position of authority for the sake of others?

How can we follow Jesus’ example?

PRAY: Ask God to help you live for His glory and not your own.
