PRAY: Ask God to speak to you from His Word.

READ: Philippians 3:16

16 Only let us live up to what we have already attained.

UNDERSTAND: get a deeper understanding of the key words

1. Begin by underlining nouns with a single line, double underline verbs, and circle descriptive words.

2. Make a list of the key words/phrases and think about what they mean.

Snapshot: Paul has already told us not to put our confidence in religion, which is a futile effort to attain God’s grace by doing good works. In this passage Paul tells us to only live up to what we have already attained. What have we attained? We have attained the gospel, knowing Christ personally, forgiveness, mercy, grace, love, just to name a few. We don’t need to add anything to what God has already done for us and inside of us.

APPLY: What is this passage calling me to do?

What have you attained as a result of following Christ?

Why are we tempted to add things to the gospel? What is the result?

Are you living up to what you have attained? If not, what needs to change?

PRAY: Ask God to help you live up to what He has done for you.
